Cal State San Marcos Track Team Competes in Point Loma Invitational

Cal State San Marcos competed in a five-way track meet, Saturday, April 6, 2002, hosted at Point Loma Nazarene University. The Cougar men and women both came in fifth as a team, but in the process had several impressive individual performances and qualified their 10th athlete for NAIA Nationals.

Amy Cutshaw, a junior from Rancho Bernardo, came in first and qualified for nationals in the women’s 400 m dash with a time of 57.35 seconds.

Autumn Wright, a freshman from San Diego, finished in first in the women’s 100 m dash with a time of 12.07 seconds. She has already qualified for nationals in this event. She also finished in first in the 200 m dash, with a time of 25.68 seconds.

Jason Williams, a sophomore from Colorado, took first place in the 400 m intermediate hurdles with a time of 53.64 seconds. He has already qualified for this event in the nationals.

Abril Jiminez, a sophomore from San Diego, placed second in the women’s high jump with a height of 5 feet, just 2 inches shy of the winning jump.

Ed Wurz, a junior from Daly City, Calif., took second in the men’s javelin throw with a distance of 54.69 meters (179 feet 5 inches).

Kris Houghton, a junior from Tualitin, Oregon, who has already qualified for the 5,000 m run at nationals, took second in the 1,500 run with a time of 4:02.30.

100 m hurdles:  Abril Jiminez, second, 15.77 seconds.

400 m hurdles:  Abril Jiminez, fourth, 68.22 seconds.

Shot put:  Tara Hardee, 13th, 9.33 m (30 feet, 7 inches).

Discus:  Tara Hardee, ninth, 114 feet 5 inches.
