Cal State San Marcos Track Team Competes in Aztec Classic

The Cal State San Marcos track and field team competed today, March 22, in the San Diego State University Aztec Classic Saturday. The event attracted more than 750 athletes to the Choc Sportsman Oval at the SDSU Sports Deck. The meet began at 9 a.m.

The host Aztecs were joined by 19 other collegiate and club teams, including Southern Utah University, Mountain West Conference foe UNLV and local schools UCSD, Cal State San Marcos, Cuyamaca College, Mesa College and Southwestern College.

Cal State San Marcos Women’s Results:

100 m dash: Andrea Jackson, junior, placed 15^th with :12.85.

400 m dash: Luci Downey, senior, placed 19^th with :58.38; Abril Jimenez, junior, placed 30^th with 1:02.54.

800 m run: Ann Marie Byrne, freshman, placed 16^th with 2:23.45; Carissa Marin, freshman, placed 17^th with 2:24.98.

1,500 m run: Camille Wilborn, junior, placed 19th with 5:00.36; Ann Marie Byrne, freshman, placed 20^th with 5:00.37.

5,000 m: Katherine Niblett, junior, placed 15^th with 19:15.62; Yolanda Carillo, freshman, placed 31^st with 20:22.96; and Olympia Olguin, freshman, placed 37^th with 22:58.79.

4x400 m relay: Cal State San Marcos placed 7^th with 4:03.99.

Long jump: Samantha Barbour, freshman, placed 25^th with 4.28 m.

Triple jump: Samantha Barbour placed 13^th with 9.70 m.

Shot put: Cynthia Flores placed 8^th with 11.26 m.

Discuss: Cynthia Flores placed 14^th with 31.02 m; Victoria Ciulla, junior, placed 18^th with 26.66 m.

100 m dash: Yanta Morrow, junior, placed 21^st with :11.50; James Rankin, freshman, placed 40^th with :12.28.

200 m dash: Yanta Morrow placed 36^th with :23.63.

400 m dash: Dax Solorzano, junior, placed 19^th with :51.54.

800 m dash: Justin Lessel, sophomore, placed 9^th with 1:56.72; Marco Alvarado, freshman, placed 11^th with 1:57.71; Polo Mariscal, freshman, placed 21^st with 2:01.43; Tim Irwin, freshman, placed 26^th with 2:02.23.

1,500 m run: Richie Gray, freshman, placed 14^th with 4:04.47; Tony Herr, junior, placed 18^th 4;07.26.

5,000 m run: Carlos Sanchez, freshman, placed 11^th with 15:56.50; Mike Shannon, junior, placed 18^th with 16:10.94; Effrain Carillo, freshman, placed 20^th with 16:14.48; and Rene Reyes, sophomore, placed 25^th with 16:23.06.

110 m hurdles: Anthony Blacksher, senior, placed 5^th with :15.53.

3,000 m steeple chase: Jesse Armijo, junior, placed 4^th with 9:33.24.

4x400 relay: Cal State San Marcos placed 4^th with 3:22.61.

Pole vault: Moses Loza, sophomore, placed 26^th with 3.75 m.

Javelin: Ed Wurtz, senior, placed 9^th with 52.38 m.
