Question (statement):
I would like to create a web page at CSUSM. I am a student. The only directory I could find that was mine is /home/students/student001. Is it possible for me to get a directory in /CWIS.

Answer:
You have to make an "html directory" in the public area we have designated on our server--like this:

Once you have logged in, type (at your prompt):
cd /public
And hit the "enter" key
Then type:
mkdir [some_uique_file_name_without_spaces]
And hit the "enter" key
The "some_uique_file_name_without_spaces" is the name of your html directory. So, in the form on the previous page, when I say: "Now, type in the name of your html directory in /home/public_html," I mean, "Type some_uique_file_name_without_spaces."

(Q:)
You state in the information for contributors page that I should submit a Help desk call to C&T (x4790) I have no idea what the author meant by this.

(A):
You do not understand this because you are not Faculty or Staff (there is no "Help Desk" for students). You should be looking under the "Links for On-line Help" area of our cwis (specifiaclly: http://coyote.csusm.edu/training/WebPublishing.html) for html help.
