San Marcos, Calif. — California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) is hosting an educational leadership symposium next month to address the low attendance and graduation rates of young Latino men in college. The symposium will take place from 8 am to 12 pm on Saturday, March 9, at Mt. San Jacinto College, Menifee Campus.
The event, which is open to the public, is a collaborative effort between CSUSM and several community organizations, including Encuentros Leadership. Community leaders, educators and students interested in learning more about this important cause are encouraged to attend.

San Marcos, CA – CSUSM students Doug Gora and Arvin Tahami have been selected as semi-finalist for the highly coveted Presidential Management Fellowship Program or (PMF). It’s a program started in 1977 that has matched outstanding graduate students with exciting Federal grant opportunities. The PMF Program is a great way to work in a leadership role and perform valuable service while jump-starting a career. Every year there are only 500 selected applicants out of roughly 10,000 submissions. When: Friday November 9, 2012 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM
This fast-paced, full-time, 24-month "Additional Bachelor's Degree" is designed for students who hold a degree in a discipline outside of Nursing and who have not completed any LVN or RN coursework. Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University San Marcos. Completion of the degree program enables individuals to sit for the NCLEX examination for RN licensure.

CSUSM to Launch "Advanced Spanish for Medical Personnel"
October 17,2012 San Marcos, CA – As the number of Spanish-speaking patients entering the healthcare system each year continues to increase, the number of Spanish speaking medical personnel remains insufficient to bridge the communication gap. California State University San Marcos is launching a Spanish language course this spring, Advanced Spanish for Medical Personnel, designed to mitigate this issue. Advanced Spanish for Medical Personnel (SPAN 314C) is a semester long course of intensive oral and written practice at the advanced level. Students will focus on vocabulary development, simulation and communication and will actively engage in immersive learning of the Spanish language relative to the healthcare system.
