Temecula, California, January 13, 2010 – On January 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) Extended Learning will be hosting a free Open House for its Meeting and Event Planning Certificate program. The Open House will serve as a kick-off for the Certificate, which will be held this spring for the first time at the new CSUSM Temecula campus (located at 43890 Margarita Road, Temecula, CA 92592).
Lisa English, CMP, CMM, program advisor for the Temecula Meeting & Event Planning Certificate program through CSUSM, and Marketing Manager for Strategic Meetings Management at Cvent, says the program is in high demand.
“Meeting Planner made the list of the ‘Top 50 Jobs for 2011’ from US News - what a great time to make an investment in an educational program for a career in planning,” explains English. “Taking a Certificate program helped me advance my career in the meetings industry years ago, and I am so excited about the excellent roster of professional instructors we have assembled for Temecula's program. And, with both Saturday and Monday/Wednesday evening course options available, the program can fit into any busy schedule.”
Focusing on the planner's practical "need to know" tools and skills and under the guidance of some of the area’s top planning professionals, the program is designed to give program participants a solid understanding of the myriad of details and behind-the-scenes considerations involved in planning successful meetings and events. Both those looking to advance their industry skills and those looking to begin a new career in planning will benefit from this program. As English explains, “[The Certificate program] provides targeted, action-oriented content which participants can apply right away in their current positions, or which can help them land a new job in the exciting meeting and events industry.”
Course topics include: Meeting and Event Planning Fundamentals, Successful Logistical Planning, Food and Beverage Essentials, Legal Issues, Finance and Budgeting Essentials, Communication Skills, Wedding Planning, Independent Meeting Planner, AV Behind the Scenes, Global Meeting Management, Special Events and Unique Venues, Event Marketing, and Trade Show Management.
Courses begin February 7. Individual courses are $139, with the cost for the entire program at $1390. To RSVP for the free Open House, interested parties should call 760-750-4020 or visit www.csusm.edu/el/beaplanner.
