San Marcos, Calif. – As the only California chapter partner of the Knowledge Management Institute, a highly acclaimed organization for their approach to utilizing organizational knowledge to reach objectives, Cal State San Marcos Extended Learning is offering the Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) Program. In today’s fast paced information age, things advance and change quickly, making it more and more challenging to remain on the cutting edge. This course is an answer to a greater focus on the management of knowledge as an asset and the development and cultivation of the channel through which knowledge and information flow.
Employees in a variety of industries tasked with organizational objectives such as improving performance, gaining the competitive advantage, remaining a leader in innovation, and developing streamlined processes, will greatly benefit from the Certified Knowledge Manager Program. Students will be provided with guidance on the content, experience, abilities, outside resources, and technology needed to ensure their organization makes full use of its collective knowledge.
“Southern California is home to many defense industry businesses and military installations and although KM was born out of and used primarily within this industry, there are few, if any, training programs along the West Coast, said Suzanne Lingold, assistant dean at Cal State San Marcos Extended Learning. “We are proud to be at the forefront of providing superior KM training to our region through our partnership with The Knowledge Management Institute.”
The CKM program at Extended Learning allows students to progress from entry level to the most advanced levels of Knowledge Management. Additionally, participants benefit from sound, proven instructional design, utilizing blended learning, face to face workshops, virtual classes and interactive e-learning.
The Certified Knowledge Manager Program is based on pioneering Knowledge Management (KM) Methodology work done for the US Government during the late 1990’s by KM Institute Chairman, Douglas Weidner, and is anchored in the US Government’s KM learning Objectives for Chief Knowledge Officers, published in 2000.
A preview of the CKM certificate course is offered with the “Essentials 2-day workshop” which provides an advanced comprehensive understanding of the “essentials” of Knowledge Management at the enterprise level. This workshop includes: background, best practices, where Knowledge Management is headed, and why it is vital to an organizations success.
The “Essentials 2-day workshop” comprises the first two days of the 5-day Certified Knowledge Manager class and earns credit toward the CKM certificate course. The “essentials” course is being offered at the Cal State San Marcos campus on September 29-30 and November 3-4.
The 5-day CKM certificate course is being offered on the Cal State San Marcos campus January 26-30 and online with open enrollment.
