Cal State San Marcos Extended Learning Extends Reach to Temecula to Boost Local Education Offerings

San Marcos, Calif. (October 30, 2008) – Cal State San Marcos - Extended Learning has announced the opening of their Temecula facility which is currently offering classes for the Fall 2008 semester, featuring a variety of business and management courses along with health care training.

Offering a public education option for higher learning in an area that was largely underserved, the Temecula location gives valley residents a long sought alternative to private institutions and long commutes. This facility will continue to grow offering additional options to the community including a nursing skills lab, simulation lab for nursing, a distance learning classroom, along with specialized certificates and degree programs. Centrally located, the Cal State San Marcos Temecula location is west of I-15 at Winchester within the Paul Goldring Garrett Institute for Higher Learning at 27455 Tierra Alta Way, Suite B -Temecula, CA 92590.

Courses currently being offered for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters include:

NURSING AND HEALTH CARE
Registered Nurse Refresher Program: This Didactic Component consists of 80 hours of classroom instruction, 72 of which meet BRN criteria. On the final day of class, each participant will complete a cumulative learning evaluation. A passing score of 80% must be achieved. Fee: $2499.

Medical Billing and Coding Program: In this course students will learn the skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, how to manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-9 manual), complete common insurance forms, and trace delinquent claims. Fee: $1499.

EKG Technician Certification Program: This comprehensive program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technician (ASPT) – Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam in addition to other National Certification Exams. This course will include important practice and background information on anatomy of the heart and physiology, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, the Holter monitor, electrocardiography and echocardiography. Fee: $999.

Pharmacy Technician Program: This comprehensive program will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Fee: $999.

SUPERVISING EMPLOYEES
Supervising Employees Certificate Program: This eight-week program provides new or soon-to-be promoted supervisors and managers with a solid foundation in the essentials of supervising employees. Participants will leave each session with higher levels of self-confidence backed by knowledge and skills that can be immediately applied when they return to their worksite. Participants can sign up for the entire program (and receive a 10% savings!) or take individual classes that meet their specific needs. Fee: all 8 courses $999.
