Veteran's Sustainable Agriculture Training Program (VSAT)

Description

California State University San Marcos's Extended Learning has partnered with Archi's Acres, a local organic farm, for Veteran's Sustainable Agriculture Training (VSAT) with a six-week certificate program. In this course, students will receive training in hydroponics, drip/micro irrigation, environmental control, soil biology, composting, greenhouse management, and more. The six-week intensive course meets 8-5pm M-F and will introduce you to sustainable agriculture as a viable career option. Students will have the opportunity to meet with successful industry leaders throughout the program. This course will bring your skills up-to-date with small-scale organic farming methods, help build your resume, and assist you in connecting with the current agricultural job market.

Students will have a better understanding of the types of self-employment or employment available in Sustainable Agriculture in the following categories:


• Sustainable Agriculture
• Organic Production Methods
• Hydroponics
• Green House Production
• Irrigation maintenance, installation and sale
• Food Handlers Managers License
• Farmers Market management
• Farm ownership and Farm management

Program Cost:

$4,500 for 240 hours of classes + 30 hours job readiness training

Full tuition may be available for those who qualify. TA funding approved.
