Clinical Nursing Faculty Certificate Course Descriptions
NURS 1000 - Online Learning Success for Nursing Faculty
This is designed for those participating in the Clinical Nursing Faculty certificate program. All instruction is delivered online in a self-paced format.
EDUC 592 - Essential Elements of Adult Learning Theory (2 units)
Prepares instructors to design lessons, deliver content, and assess student outcomes for adult learners. Introduces the student to theories of adult learning and motivation, use of evidence based assessment, and characteristics of effective instruction.
EDST 633 - Design Online Experiences for Teaching and Learning (3 units)
Prepares instructors to design online experiences using appropriate instructional media and assessment for effective web-based learning.
NURS 456 - Teaching Nursing: Implementation of Theory into Practice (5 units)
Introduction to the teaching of clinical nursing in the clinical and simulated laboratory settings. Included will be the development of clinical syllabi, program objectives, learning outcomes and evaluation of clinical objectives, clinical performance, critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning/clinical inference. Utilization of simulation technology and the creation of clinical scenarios for simulation testing will also be included.
NURS 457 - Practice Teaching Clinical Nursing (2 units)
This practicum is designed to provide a practice teaching experience in a program of nursing in a community college or baccalaureate setting. The student will be assigned to a preceptor who is a faculty member in a nursing program teaching a clinical nursing consistent with the student's area of clinical expertise. The minimum requirement is 90 hours of practice teaching.
