Deborah Benett, M.S.N.
Clinical Skills & Simulation Coordinator
Deborah has over 35 years experience working as a Clinical Nurse and over 26 years experience as a nurse educator. She has worked at CSUSM since 2002 and currently serves as the Clinical Labs Coordinator for the School of Nursing. Prior to her current with the CSUSM School of Nursing, Deborah worked with CSUSM Extended Learning where she developed and launched the Nurse Refresher program and has been faculty at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA. Deborah holds a bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Arizona and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Nursing at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

Katherine Hayden, Ed.D.
Associate Professor
Katherine Hayden is an Associate Professor for the College of Education. She teaches the technology courses for a California teaching credential, online master's courses for technology related topics and a doctoral course for Educational Leadership. Her research involves building online communities and identifying best practices for videoconferencing in learning environments. She believes in technology as an integral part of the educational experience and has worked extensively with students, teachers, administrators, parents, and community members in order to promote the use of technology as a tool in education and lifelong learning skills. Kathy has participated in projects at the district level, county and state level in order to bring about change in teaching and learning.
