
Program Requirements
The RN to BSN degree is a part-time program that is designed for the working RN. Each student will be required to complete 44 semester units of study within the six academic term program. Classes will be scheduled one-day per week to accommodate individuals working full-time in the clinical setting.
Program Cohort
The program will admit one cohort of 24 students each Fall Semester. The program may be completed in six academic terms of study, including summers. Students admitted to the RN to BSN program will enter with a pre-designated course of study and are guaranteed a space in every class.
Requirements for entry into the RN to BSN Program:
- A California RN License and completion of college course work from a regionally-accredited college/university, such as WASC (or other regional affiliate), including LVN coursework, if taken separately.
- A minimum of 33 units of lower division nursing coursework
- Completion of the Pre-Nursing Core, or their equivalents, as detailed below.
- Completion of the additional RN to BSN Preparatory courses, or their equivalents, as detailed below.
- Minimum GPA of 2.0; applies to both overall college/university GPA and cumulative GPA for the Pre-Nursing Core and RN to BSN Preparatory courses.
- Students must complete all prerequisite and preparatory to the RN -BSN nursing major courses with a grade of C or better, and courses (and labs) with substandard grades (D or below) can be repeated only once.
CSU Pre-Nursing Core
The Pre-Nursing Core has been adopted by all CSU Nursing Programs. A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 in these Pre-Nursing Core courses is required for entry into our RN to BSN program. Students must complete all of the Pre-Nursing Core courses, or their equivalents with a grade of C or better. Courses with substandard grades (D or below) may be repeated only once. Please be aware of the repeat rule. Pre-Nursing Core courses for which the student earns less than a grade of C (2.0) may be repeated only once.
Additional RN to BSN Preparatory Courses Required for Admission
A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 in these additional RN to BSN peparatory courses, or their equivalents, are required for entry into our RN to BSN program. Prior to being admitted to the program, students must complete all of the additional preparatory courses, or their equivalents with a grade of C or better. Courses with substandard grades (D or below) may be repeated only once.
