Open University Certificates

Open University certificate programs enable individuals to earn a University certificate by completing a prescribed course of study via the regular Open University program.  These certificates carry resident credit and classes taken may be transferred to other universities and colleges.

Biotechnology Laboratory Technician Certificate

The Biotechnology Laboratory Technician Certificate consists of five classes (16 semester units) and a seminar series. It is designed to provide you with the skills necessary to secure entry-level positions as biotechnology lab technicians or research assistants. The program curriculum provides an overview of the industry and the functions of biotechnology and pharmaceutical laboratories in research, manufacturing, and quality control.

CSA in Computer Concepts and Applications

Satisfy the California Supplementary Authorization (CSA) in Computer Concepts and Applications with this completely online program! Regardless of where you live in the state, you may now fulfill CSA requirements by completing (grade 'C' or better) these four, 3-unit, graduate-level courses in Computer Concepts and Applications, offered collaboratively by the School of Education and Extended Learning.

Dual Language Certificate

Candidates can complete the DL Certificate coursework in two to four semesters.  The DL Certificate courses will be offered fully online in order to include a wider representation of candidates from various communities. 

Candidates will understand, analyze, and reflect on the major concepts, principles, theories, and research related to Dual Language Education through:

  • content instruction in the primary and second language to native speakers and English learners,
  • curriculum development, program assessment, and inclusion of students with special needs or struggling learners,
  • data-informed instruction and assessment of linguistically diverse students, and
  • cross-cultural competence for students and implications for educational leadership in diverse societies.
