Professor Jim Tomlin

Instructor Bio:
After receiving his B.A in Political Science and a teaching credential from the University of Redlands, Jim went on to earn a MA degree in Education from the University of Redlands and a MA degree from the University of Connecticut in History where he also maintained a Teaching Fellowship. He has spent 41 years in the classroom and has firsthand experience teaching students from a range of ethnic backgrounds.
For 36 years, Jim taught at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, California. He was Corona's Head Track Coach for 11 years with a record of 101-2-6 and 9 conference championships. Since 1992 Jim has been an AP US History instructor. Over the past fifteen years, Jim has seen the AP History program at his school grow from 22 students to 126. Jim is an active and endorsed College Board presenter and has been an exam reader since 1997, and has written exam questions for College Board, PRAXIS, edited a book for D & S Marketing and curriculum materials for Social Studies Schools Service. This will be Jim's fourth year conducting the AP U.S. History.
