Credentialing
Prepare for, clear or renew your teaching credential.
California State University San Marcos Extended Learning offers a variety of opportunities for teachers seeking to prepare for and clear their California Teaching Credential
Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA)
If you are a Beginning Teacher (Year 1 or Year 2) or a Support Provider, you can earn graduate credit! Normally offered during the Spring term, most of the local BTSA programs participate. Your district's BTSA director can give you more information about your specific deadlines.
5th Year of Study
Extended Learning does not currently offer 5th year of study. For more information on clearing your credential, please contact the School of Education at 760-750-4277.
Credential Prerequisites
Do you want to get a head start on the College of Education's Credential Program?
You can take the prerequisites without being formally admitted to the university. Extended Learning offers prerequisite courses every semester for individuals waiting to hear about their acceptance or for those who wish to explore teaching as a career before committing to the full credential program.
