Course Descriptions
Completion of the following four courses is required to obtain a CSA in Computer Concepts and Applications. All courses are delivered in an online format for convenient access and flexible scheduling.
Current Issues and Research in Educational Technology (EDST 630)
This course prepares educators to critically examine major issues, current research, and future trends in educational technology. Course assignments will include an analysis of the impact of emerging technologies on learning and teaching; strategies for using emerging technologies for conducting research; and opportunities to make informed decisions on critical issues of equity, ethics, and copyright.
Hardware Operations and Function to Support Teaching & Learning (EDST 635)
This course prepares educators to use computer and software resources and settings to support student needs. The assignments will include a close look at universal access issues, tools and important copyright law.
Software and Web Site Evaluation and Tools (EDST 636)
This course prepares educators to critically examine education-specific software for classroom use and to evaluate educational web sites. Course assignments include development of a teacher web page and use of online survey tools and blogs.
Instructional Technology Planning and Management (EDST 637)
This course prepares educators to critically examine major issues, current research, and future trends in educational technology. Course assignments will include an analysis of the impact of emerging technologies on learning and teaching; strategies for using emerging technologies for conducting research; and opportunities to make informed decisions on critical issues of equity, ethics, and copyright.
Digital Storytelling to Inspire Creativity in the K - 12 Classroom (EDST 639)
Prepares educators to applyprinciples of digital storytelling to create a variety of movie sequences applying project based learning elements emphasized in education today. Copyright issues and permissions will be addressed for the K - 12 classroom. Projects will address the K - 12 Standards for Visual Arts.
