On October 16th, Cal State San Marcos will be participating in the 2014 Great California ShakeOut. During U-Hour on the 16th, we plan to send an emergency alert simulating an actual earthquake notification. We ask that when you receive the alert to please practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On. Also, this is a perfect time to look around your work spaces and classrooms to identify potential hazards if it were an actual earthquake.
Below is a short 60 second earthquake audio file, please take a few minutes on the 16th to watch.
This is a great opportunity for the campus to test our Emergency Notification System. Students, Faculty and Staff should expect to receive alert notifications via text, phone, email, desktop alert, digital signage and outdoor speakers.
Remember! "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" - Please keep phone lines accessible for emergency use, send a quick text to family to let them know you are ok. Only call if there is an emergency situation.
Be prepared, build, buy or update your Emergency Preparedness Kit, Update or develop your Emergency Plan, create a communication plan.
We thank you in advance for your participation in this year’s Great California ShakeOut!
