Call for Staff and Administrator participation in focus group and drop in sessions about diversity at CSUSM
July 9 and 10, 2014
As you may already know, CSUSM is undertaking a campus diversity-mapping project. The campus has retained Halualani & Associates (H&A) to map current diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, programs, and courses at California State University, San Marcos. The mapping will enable CSUSM to take stock of what has already been done university wide (and can therefore be leveraged – cost effectively) and what still remains to be done in the area of diversity and inclusion. This process will assist in our strategic planning as it relates to achieving our diversity goals.
To help put the mapping in context H&A will conduct discussion group and interview sessions with staff and administrators on July 9th and 10th to get a better sense of diversity and inclusion at CSUSM. In addition to unit specific focus groups of staff and administrators, H&A will also offer an open focus group forum and drop-in sessions. Staff and administrators are invited to provide their input by participating in any of the following:
Open Staff Focus Group
There will be an open focus group for staff on July 9, from 12:15 to 1:15pm in Markstein Rm.105. The focus group discussion will be confidential and will not be taped. Only staff from Halualani and Associates will be in the focus group meeting with you, except for the other staff members who sign up for the group as well. Please note this focus group is limited to staff.
Please RSVP to Marilyn McWilliams, email@example.com if you are interested in attending. It is first come-first-served, as seating is limited.
Drop in Interview Sessions
Drop in sessions to speak with H&A staff are open to both staff and administrators and will be held at the following times:
July 9 from 10-11am in Markstein Rm. 105
July 10 from 8:30-9:25am Markstein Rm. 105
RSVP’s are not needed, just drop by.
If you are unable to participate in the above opportunities, you can still provide your input through the H&A online survey. To ensure everyone has an opportunity to confidentially and anonymously provide input H&A has created a link to a brief survey with 3 open-ended questions. The survey is hosted on H&A’s server only, where you can write comments and observations about diversity and inclusion at CSUSM. Only H&A will have access to these comments. The survey is completely voluntary.
The survey link is here and will remain open until October 1, 2014:
