
This page was developed to introduce the diversity of San Diego County to individuals new to the region. According to 2006 estimates provided by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), approximately 51% of the population in the county is White. Roughly 29% are Hispanic, followed by 10% Asian or Pacific Islander, 5% Black and 0.5% Native American Indian. About three and a half percent fell in the “Other” category. The median age of the population is 34.3, with 75% of the population older than 18. It is estimated that 11% of the San Diego County population is 65 years and over.
