Academic Student Employees
The Trustees of the California State University (CSU) recognize the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), AFL-CIO and its Local Union as the sole and exclusive representative of the bargaining unit (Unit 11) in accordance with the certification by the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) in petition number LA-RR-1099-H.

Summary of Bargaining Unit Positions
During the 2015-2016 academic year, Instructional Student Assistants were employed in the following departments: Accounting, Biology, Centers for Learning and Academic Support Services, CHABSS Miscellaneous Instruction, Chemistry, Communication, Computer Science and Information Systems, History, Human Development, Kinesiology, Literature & Writing Studies, Management, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Physics and Psychology. Graduate Assistants were hired by the Biology, Communication, History, Mathematics, Psychology and Sociology departments. Teaching Associates were employed in the following departments: Biology, Computer Science and Information Systems, History, Literature and Writing Studies, Mathematics and Modern Language Studies and Psychology.
The classifications included in this unit are:
- Instructional Student Assistants (1150 and 1151*)
- Graduate Assistants (2325, 2326 and 2355)
- Teaching Associates (2354, and 2324*)
