Basic Facts about the University:
Founded in 1989, California State University San Marcos opened its doors to students in the fall of 1990. It is the first of a new generation of California State Universities. We are a rapidly growing university with approximately 7,800 total students and is expected to grow to 25,000 in full capacity. San Marcos is located in North San Diego County, approximately 35 miles from both downtown San Diego and Orange County, offering a full-range of recreational, cultural, entertainment, and shopping opportunities
