Instruction and Reference
The California State University San Marcos Library seeks applicants for two part time Library faculty positions within the Information Literacy Program (ILP) for the 2013/14 academic school year. Rank and salary is at the Assistant Librarian level. This position is eligible for benefits.
The assignment will be in the Information Literacy Program to provide instruction to general education courses, provide reference/research help at the library's Research Help Desk (both in person and virtually) and attend regular ILP meetings. Instruction responsibilities are expected to require 15-20 hours a week, reference/research help/office hours for 10-15 hours, and other responsibilities for the remainder of the work week. Some instruction and on-call research help hours will be scheduled for evenings and weekends. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the position include: An MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent before start date. Recent experience providing reference and instruction in an academic library. Evidence of competency or experience with instructional-related technologies. High level of self-motivation, enthusiasm and flexibility. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues, students, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Requirements: Preference will be given to individuals with experience working with first-year college students.
Timeline: A review of applications will begin on July 14, 2013, however, the position will remain open until filled.
