California State University San Marcos' School of Nursing seeks a part-time Nursing Lecturer specializing in Pediatric Nursing for Summer 2013 term.  This position includes teaching Pediatric Nursing content in lecture only.  Demonstrated experience and expertise in pediatric nursing and family assessment theory to pediatrics including: infants, children and adolescents.

Course work emphasizes developing skills in nursing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention toward achieving healthy outcomes for children and their families.  Objectives will include

(1)  Performing complete assessments on patients while in an inpatient setting in a major hospital and/or in community based setting.
(2)  Assessment of children and adolescents, correctly identifying (a) normal and abnormal findings and (b) relevant diagnoses and collaborative problems.
(3)  Assessment of the psychosocial and learning needs of children and family members.
(4)  Anticipates potential common complications in the children and adolescents by implementing appropriate preventative measures and assessments aimed at early detection.
(5)  Participates in coaching and comfort measures for children and their families during  acute and/or chronic illness.

Minimum qualifications for the position include:  An earned Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred and applicants with a BSN, currently working as a specialized pediatric nurse, may apply.  Applicants must have state licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing and be approved to teach in Pediatrics.
