The School of Arts at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2017 to teach VSAR 102 -The Computer and the Visual Arts .  This is a studio course that meets on Tuesdays, 1-4:50 pm. We are searching for an artist with background in analogue and digital art practices. The course introduces students to the computer as a tool for making art. Students learn to evaluate the work of contemporary artists utilizing the computer and digital imagery in a variety of formats. They also create work utilizing text and image in art projects with special consideration of elementary two-dimensional design principles and Adobe Creative Cloud application techniques.

Minimum requirements for the position include: 

  1. Master’s degree in Art or equivalent
  2. Current portfolio of work that demonstrates expertise in 2-D digital media and other art forms
  3. CV must demonstrate that applicant is an active, exhibiting artist
  4. CV must demonstrate teaching experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, especially Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, Illustrator, and Lightroom at the college level or equivalent.

Preferred requirements for the position include:  Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

Timeline A review of applications will begin on June 23, 2017; however, the position will remain open until filled.
