Procurement and Support Services
Procurement and Support Services consists of Procurement, Travel, and Materials Management (consisting of Central Stores, Property Accounting, Shipping & Receiving, Records Management and Campus Storage). Our goal is to improve the quality of services provided to the campus departments while reducing the total cost of goods and services. We will do this by increasing productivity, streamlining work processes, decentralizing purchasing functions, maximizing use of electronic media, and utilizing best practices developed in our industry.
- Procurement & Support Services applied for and was subsequently awarded the prestigious “Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award” from the National Purchasing Institute. The award recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in procurement through innovation, professionalism, productivity, and leadership. CSUSM Procurement & Support Services was in the top five of 144 universities for total points achieved.
- Materials Management reduced the volume of surplus/obsolete/scrap materials to landfill by arranging donations to “Leer un Libro” (“Read-A-Book”) bi-national library and schools in Baja, Mexico.
- Procurement & Support Services hosted the 2004 CSU Purchasing Officers Association Conference in Carlsbad, CA, hosting over 100 attendees.
