Last call: GRID Intermediate-level Workshop Application

Dear GRID participants,

I will like to invite you to our 2012 intermediate level GRID workshop, which has been scheduled for Oct 19th and 20th from 9 am to 5 pm at Palomar College room NS127. This year’s workshop is especially exciting given the many new advances in online GIS, and the many new improvements that have made the new online GIS tools even easier to use in your classrooms.

Per your comments from last year, we have also set aside time (total of 3.5 hours) in the workshop for you to work on your own lessons using the tools that were introduced in the workshop.  At the conclusion of the workshop, we ask that you give a 5 minute presentation to demonstrate your lessons, and we ultimately hope to feature everyone’s work at an online portal such as this one: http://www.arcgis.com/apps/PublicGallery/index.html

Most exciting of all, we will also be demonstrating how mobile devices (such as your or your students’ iphones, ipads, android tablets, android phones) can be used to collect field data that can be integrated in GIS webmaps (see detailed schedule in application).  So please be sure to bring your mobile device if you own one.  Alternatively, you can share one with a partner or me.

The applications are due on September 28th, and notification of acceptance will be sent on October 5th.  If you know that you will not be able to attend (e.g. due to a scheduling conflict), I greatly appreciate it if you can let me know immediately. This will allow me to extend the invitation to other interested parties.

Thank you very much, and we hope to see you at this year’s exciting workshop!
