eLearning Faculty Fellow Opportunity

Applications due May 21, 2007 by noon

The Faculty Fellow for eLearning (EL-FF) collaborates with the Faculty Center and IITS to encourage faculty to utilize technology to improve student learning. The EL-FF works in a pivotal area of university-level service: faculty professional development. As such, the central mission for this fellow is to assist faculty in accomplishing their professional development goals in the area of instruction. The EL-FF will work in consultation with the Director of the Faculty Center and the Director of Academic Technology (IITS), but his or her primary constituency is CSUSM faculty.

The EL-FF has the following responsibilities:
• Consult with tenure-track and adjunct faculty at department, college, and/or  individual meetings about their interest in incorporating technology into their pedagogy, assessing their use of technology, using technology to assess their pedagogy, and issues concerning technology on campus;
Consult with faculty about best practices for documenting technology-based projects and achievements in the WPAF.
• Report monthly to the Faculty Center Advisory Council (FCAC) meeting (2nd Wednesday of the month, 9:30-11am);
• Report monthly to the University Computing and Telecommunications Committee;
• Attend select system-wide CSU meetings related to instructional technology and multi-media and report back to the Faculty Center and IITS;
• Submit a proposal for a presentation on a topic related to EL-FF work at the CSU Symposium of University Teaching (spring semester); attend symposium;

• Submit a 500-word year-end report by June 1, 2008.

Eligibility: Tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply. The fellow position requires an individual with strong interpersonal skills. Preferably the EL-FF will
be actively engaged in using technology to support instruction;
• be skilled in the development of instructional design.

Time Commitment: Approximately 8 hours/week

Compensation: One (1) course release in the fall and one (1) course release in the spring; Travel—approximately  $2000.00 (subject to approval of the TLTR Steering Committee).

Application Process:  Send the following information to the Faculty Center (facctr@csusm.edu) by noon on Monday, May 21, 2007. Please take no more than 1 page each (3 pages total) to respond to the prompts listed below:
1.  How do your experiences with technology and/or with teaching and learning relate to this position?
2.  Describe three examples of activities you would like to successfully carry out as the eLearning Faculty Fellow. With your examples, explain how your skills and interests make you the right candidate for the position. 
3.  Attach a copy of your CV (required format: “Sample Curriculum Vita” indicated in the Faculty Center’s RTP handbook).

Selection Process: The Dean of IITS, the Director of Academic Technology Services, and the Faculty Center Director will review all applications. You will be notified no later than May 24, 2007.
