Faculty Mentoring Program Faculty Fellow Opportunity

Applications due Friday, March 28, 2008
The Faculty Mentoring Program Faculty Fellow (FMP-FF) works with the Faculty Center Director to sustain and develop the Faculty Mentoring Program. The Faculty Mentoring Program is a faculty development activity that also benefits at-risk students. Tenure-track and adjunct faculty who volunteer are matched with an at-risk student, and help establish a constructive mentoring relationship with the student, based on the student’s need. Faculty who participate in this program develop mentoring skills that are different from advising majors or enrolled students, and are able to reflect on the mentoring process as another important tool in the area of “instruction.”

The FMP-FF has the following responsibilities:
Work closely with the Faculty Mentoring Program Coordinator to:
Organize and assign mentoring pairs (new pairs announced is at the beginning of each semester)
Organize on campus activities, including workshops and social events

Work with the Director to:
Plan for the continuing improvement of the program;
Submit material for the Faculty Center Annual Report;
Make recommendations about the lottery grant that funds the program.

Eligibility: Any tenure-line faculty is eligible to apply. Preferably the FMP-FF will
Have served successfully as a Faculty Mentoring Program Mentor for at least one year prior to applying for the position;
Be committed to attending and hosting program activities; and
Have experience or interest in mentoring.

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week (average over semester)

Benefit: Stipend of approximately $500-$750 for travel/supplies (dependent on budget)

Application: Submit a letter of interest and CV (formatted according to the recommended format for WPAFs) by : Friday, March 28,2 008

Selection Process: The Faculty Center Director and Faculty Center Advisory Council will review all applications. You will be notified no later than Friday, May 9, 2008.
