Faculty Mentoring Program Faculty Fellow
The Faculty Mentoring Program Faculty Fellow (FMP-FF) works with the Faculty Center Director to sustain and develop the Faculty Mentoring Program. In the Faculty Mentoring Program, tenure-track and adjunct faculty volunteers are matched with first generation or economically disadvantaged students who are juniors or seniors. Each mentor-protégé pair establishes a constructive relationship that encourages student progress toward degree completion and exploration of graduate school and career options. The goal of the program is to foster student success by reducing social estrangement and creating a university culture of positive participation and support.
The FMP-FF has the following responsibilities:
Work closely with the Faculty Mentoring Program Coordinator to:
• Publicize and preside over the program’s campus activities, including the annual orientation, workshops and social events
• Communicate regularly with the faculty volunteers to ensure program’s smooth operation
• Organize and assign mentoring pairs (new pairs are announced at the beginning of each semester)
• Approve documents and correspondence
• Make decisions regarding the program’s functioning, including developing new workshops when needed
• Identify scholarship applicants from the program
Work with the Director to:
• Assess the program and plan for its continuing improvement
• Seek funding and growth opportunities for the program
• Submit material for the Faculty Center Annual Report
