Faculty Center Connections
The mission of Faculty Center Connections is to provide mutual mentoring for faculty at CSU San Marcos. Reciprocal mentoring relationships contribute to the continual growth and development of all faculty. Faculty Center Connections is intended to help new faculty learn more about CSUSM and the expectations for tenure and promotion, to provide an opportunity for faculty to share teaching techniques and challenges, and to facilitate informal research and writing discussions among colleagues.

After a successful first year, the Faculty Center is pleased to announce we will be continuing with our Faculty Center Connections mentoring program. We are opening up the program to new applicants. To be considered for the program, apply by September 28, 2012
For those of you not familiar with the program, the mission of Faculty Center Connections is to provide mutual mentoring for faculty at CSU San Marcos. Reciprocal mentoring relationships contribute to the continual growth and development of all faculty. Faculty Connections is intended to help new faculty learn more about CSUSM and the expectations for tenure and promotion. It will also provide an opportunity for all faculty to share teaching techniques and challenges and discuss research and writing with colleagues in an informal environment.
What is involved? Groups of four to five faculty members will be matched across departments and disciplines. In each mentoring "group", there will be several new and/or junior faculty paired with two senior faculty. Faculty will attend two formal "Connections" events. A kick off meeting in the fall and a year end celebration at the end of spring. During the academic year, faculty meet informally on a monthly basis.
Compensation? All faculty who actively participate in the program will receive a $100 professional development funds that will be transferred to their department to supplement travel or supply costs.
Why? Because mentoring benefits us all!
