FMP Kick-Off Lunch

Welcome to the Faculty Mentoring Program!  On Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 12:00 pm-1:00pm in the Faculty Center Patio. We will be hosting an Orientation and Welcome Lunch for Protégés and Mentors.  Come meet your fellow mentors and protégés at this kickoff event.

Post-Graduate Testing Scholarship

 FMP is currently accepting applications for Post-Graduate Testing: This scholarship will pay for post-graduate test registration fees (i.e. but not limited to GRE, LSAT, CBEST, etc).  Scholarship is open ONLY to FMP students. The due date is March 2, 2012.  See the link for an application.

The Coffee Cookie Klatch

FMP’s Coffee Cookie Klatch is an event for Mentors and Protégés to get together and have a dialogue to address any challenges that the protégés might be facing as students or an opportunity to have a conversation to get to know each other better and keep the mentor-protégé relationship going on.

“Ticket To Ride” is an exciting musical journey through the best of the Beatles, opening with their greatest hits from the sixties all the way through the Sgt. Pepper era. This internationally acclaimed show has been performed worldwide and has been called 'one of the most authentic Beatles groups you will ever see’ by both the British and American press. “Ticket To Ride” captures the fun and excitement of a real Beatles concert, LIVE on stage!

Sonny Lacks event

David “Sonny” Lacks has enthralled university and library audiences across the country talking about his mother Henrietta Lacks and her important contribution to modern medicine.
Sonny’s visit is planned to put a personal face on the birth of bioethics, issues of experimentation on African Americans, and the legal battles over “informed consent.”


Graduate Studies Workshop

An essential component of the FMP is to prepare students for success in graduate school. To ensure that you are the best prepared in this effort, FMP program has established a Graduate Studies Workshop to assist you in the process.  Exam Survival Kit 

An Exam Survival Kit will be available for pick up from the Faculty Mentoring Program Office (Kellogg Library 2400) in April.  This kit includes scantrons, blue books and other fun items to get you through your finals. Please be sure to set up an appointment to stop by to be sure that someone is available to assist you.

Orchestra Nova — “Masterpiece Hits: You Vote...We Play”
Saturday, April 29, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Concert Hall

Nova

Wish you could hear your favorite classical piece performed live by the Nova musicians? Now is your chance to tell them what you want...they are listening! It’s easy. Make your selection on the internet. Orchestra Nova will select some of their favorite masterpieces to perform and you will select the rest of the repertoire. Internet voting will begin on October 3, 2011 and will end on December 13, 2011 at orchestranova.org. The final repertoire will be announced in January 2012. Don’t miss this fun and interactive concert, showcasing San Diego favorites!

UC EDGE: Graduate Recruitment Day 2012                             

This event is hosted by University of California Irvine on behalf of the ten campuses of the University of California. The UC Edge Graduate Recruitment Day 2012 will be held on May 2, 2012 more information of this event is forthcoming. Registration is covered and FMP will reimburse students for mileage and parking to attend the conference. 


FMP 2012 Year End Celebration (GRADUATION)

This social gathering is another opportunity the Faculty Mentoring Program offers to both students and faculty to come together in a “non-academic” setting to interact and network with each other. This gathering is also our opportunity to recognize those students who graduated in the fall and who are graduating this semester. If you are planning to graduate, please notify Sonia Perez (fmp@csusm.edu  / 4017) as soon as possible so we may be able to properly recognize you.
