Scholarship:
FMP is currently accepting applications for Post-Graduate Testing: This scholarship will pay for  post-graduate test registration fees  (i.e. but not limited to GRE, LSAT, CBEST, etc).  Scholarship is open ONLY to FMP students. The due date is January 30, 2009.

Cultural Events:
Faculty Mentoring Program offers cultural events at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Two tickets are allotted per Mentor/Protégé relationship. Please see Sonia Perez for available tickets.

102 Years of Broadway
Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.
Concert Hall
Direct from New York, Neil Berg's "102 Years of Broadway" features five of Broadway's finest singers who recreate the biggest moments from the finest Broadway shows of the century including "The Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables," "Evita," "Wonderful Town," "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Fiddler on the Roof." These amazing performers light up the stage with songs from the hit shows in which they starred. Neil Berg presents brilliantly revived arrangements of these Broadway classics as well as fantastic numbers from Broadway's newest hit shows. This unforgettable evening of music will keep Broadway buffs in a state of bliss for weeks to come.

Navy Band Southwest

Enjoy a free community concert by the Navy Band Southwest under the direction of Lt. Mark Corbliss, made possible by the generous sponsorship of Dr. David and Mrs. Lynn Tagge of Escondido, the North County Times, and the Center. Join us in welcoming one of the United States Navy's oldest and finest continuing musical organizations for their fourth visit to the Center.

Brent Garcia
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 4:00 & 7:00 p.m.
Center Theater
Acoustic folk rock artist Brent Garcia got his start playing restaurants and coffee houses in North Idaho. Garcia will share his unique combination of creative lyrics and smooth, soulful sound with Southern California in a concert that's not to be missed.
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, one hour prior to curtain.

Exam Survival Kit:
An Exam Survival Kit will be available for pick up from the Faculty Mentoring Program Office (Kellogg Library 2400) in November.  This kit includes scantrons, blue books and other fun items to get you through your finals. Please be sure to set up an appointment to stop by to be sure that someone is available to assist you.  fmp@csusm.edu  or x4017

Brandon Yip
Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 4:00 & 7:00 p.m.
Center Theater
Brandon Yip fuses ethnic and classical styles to create a sampling of sounds from around the world. Yip has played guitar professionally for almost 25 years and attended master classes with the world's greatest artists.
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, one hour prior to curtain.

An essential component of the FMP is to prepare students for success in graduate school. To ensure that you are the best prepared in this effort, FMP program has established a Pre-Doctoral Workshop to assist you in the process.

Concert Hall
Celebrate your winter holidays with San Diego Academy of Ballet's "The Nutcracker." Join Clara, the Sugarplum Fairy, soldiers and mice along with dancers from the Kingdom of the Sweets for our annual tradition. American Ballet Theater stars Gillian Murphy, Gennadi Saveliev and Hee Seo in lead roles, and features Kiril Kulish, star of the New York musical, "Billy Elliot."

The Pacific Belles Chapter of Sweet Adelines
Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 4:00 & 7:00 p.m.

Discover the real story behind all those pipers piping and drummers drumming when this women's four-part a cappella chorus from Escondido takes the audience on a humorous romp through "The Twelve Days of Christmas," featuring seasonal favorites and an assortment of musical treats from throughout the year.

FMP Holiday Gathering & Fall Graduation:

This social gathering is another opportunity the Faculty Mentoring Program offers to both the students and faculty to come together in a "non-academic" setting to interact and network with each other. This gathering is also our opportunity to recognize those students who are graduating at the end of the fall.
