Important Dates

To be considered for the maximum amount of aid for which you may be eligible, you should pay close attention to the following dates. Most grant (gift) aid is limited and is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

◊ JANUARY 1 through MARCH 2

  • CSU, San Marcos Priority Filing Period for the following fall and spring semesters
  • Cal Grant Application Period for the following fall and spring semesters

◊ MARCH 2 ** You should mail your FAFSA by March 2 each year. **

  • CSU, San Marcos Priority Filing Date for the following fall and spring semesters
  • Cal Grant Application Deadline for the following fall and spring semesters

◊ MARCH and thereafter

  • Letters mailed by the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office to students requesting documentation as needed

◊ MAY 1

  • File Completion Date for the following fall and spring semesters. All required forms should be submitted to CSUSM for priority funding consideration

◊ APRIL and thereafter

  • Award letters mailed to students for the following fall and spring semesters

◊ AUGUST

  • Fall aid disbursed on the first day of class and thereafter as available

◊ JANUARY

  • Spring aid disbursed on the first day of class and thereafter as available
