Concurrent Enrollment Concurrent enrollment, for the purpose of financial aid, is to allow students to have units concurrently taken at another institution considered in addition to their units at Cal State San Marcos when calculating eligibility for the Pell Grant or Cal Grant B. To be eligible for concurrent enrollment for financial aid purposes, a student must meet the following: ![]()
You MUST be registered in your courses at the concurrent institution NO later than Cal State San Marcos’s add/drop deadline for the term. If you are attending concurrently, but do not meet the above criteria, there is no reason to complete a financial aid concurrent enrollment form. You will want to confirm with your advisor the transferability of the courses, and have official transcripts sent to Registration and Records at the point grades are posted, but it will not affect your aid at Cal State San Marcos. To apply for concurrent enrollment, you must complete a concurrent enrollment form, which is available in the Cal State San Marcos Financial Aid and Scholarship Office and on our website. This form is completed by you, your academic advisor and by the Financial Aid Office at the concurrent school. The completed form is returned to the Cal State San Marcos Financial Aid and Scholarship Office, along with a copy of your concurrent college course registration, so that we can confirm the transferability of the coursework. If the concurrent enrollment request is approved, your Pell Grant will be adjusted and a revised award letter will be sent to you. At the end of the semester, you must submit a copy of your grade report indicating the result of your enrollment at the other institution. The information can be submitted in the form of a grade postcard from the professor, an unofficial printout of your grades, or an official transcript. We prefer the printout, now available at most community colleges. Failure to provide this information will result in the assumption that you did not complete the units and you will be either placed on financial aid probation, or disqualified from further financial aid, as outlined in our satisfactory academic progress policies later in this handbook.
