Tony Allard is a performance artist, electronic media artist, poet and teacher. He taught performance and installation and related courses and workshops at the Kansas City Art Institute from 1989 to 1997. In 1997 Allard moved to San Diego where he now lives and works. He currently teaches digital media and theory courses at California State University, San Marcos, and has been a Visiting Instructor at the University of California, San Diego. Allard has produced live radio and internet broadcast performances in Japan, Europe, Canada and the United States. In 1996 Allard began making single channel video tapes which have been screened nationally and internationally. Recent tapes include Corpse and Mirror, Ship of FooLs, From Here To L.A., and Skepsis. In 2005, Allard collaborated with video artist, Kristine Diekman, on “Future Gen”, a video and drawing installation in the Peter Paul Luce Gallery on the Cornell College Campus in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Allard has done numerous performances in the United States and recent and past performances include, “Heckety”, an ongoing street performances manifesting the trickster figure in his everyday life; "Corpse and Mirror", a 40 minute monologue about language and madness; "From the Quotidian: A De-standardized Dictionary”, a collaborative performance and installation with the students of the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI.
