Where will the WLS be held?
The summit will be held at an off-campus retreat site near campus. For the safety and security of participants, the exact location is not published. Selected WLS participants will be given the location upon confirmation of attendance.
Who may attend?
The Women's Leadership Summit is open for undergraduate students who self-identify as women and are enrolled at least part time at Cal State University San Marcos. Graduate students who wish to be involved are encouraged to submit a workshop proposal.
How much does it cost to attend?
Selected participants are asked to pay a modest $10 fee to secure a spot at the summit. Scholarships are available for those who would face unreasonable burden or be unable to attend due to the fee.
How do I register?
Registration is open until Feb. 1, 2013. Register online here.
Do I need to commit to the whole weekend?
Yes! Only students who can attend the entire summit, including overnight, will be confirmed for participation. There is limited space available, so all participants must be committed to taking advantage of all that the WLS offers.
Will transportation be provided?
Transportation will not be provided. Participants are required to arrange their own transportation to and from the summit. Carpooling is highly encouraged!
What food will be provided?
Registered participants will be provided the following meals: Friday - dinner; Saturday - light breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Sunday - light breakfast and lunch. Dietary accommodations and allergies must be specified on the registration form.
Will childcare be available?
We regret that childcare will not be provided at the WLS.
Will there be ADA accommodations?
All ADA accommodations will be provided with advance notice and request.
Will I be sharing a room with someone?
Yes, all participants share a room with no more than four other students (up to 5 participants per room). Participants are encouraged to bring sleeping bags and any additional bedding needed.
How will roommates be assigned?
All confirmed participants will have an opportunity to give roommate preferences. An email will be sent to those confirmed with complete information.
What is appropriate attire?
The entire WLS will take place at a semi-secluded location off campus. Participants are encouraged to dress casually and comfortably. This summit offers a unique opportunity for women to escape judgment about appearance. Feel free to leave your make-up, curling iron, and heels at home!
