Title IX is a federal law prohibiting sex discrimination in educational institutions.
The law states that "no person in the United States shall on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance".

Title IX forbids sex discrimination in all university services and programs and includes sexual harassment, the failure to provide equal opportunity in athletics, and discrimination based on pregnancy.
