Dan Calac, M.D.
Medical Director of the Indian Health Council
In addition to establishing and implementing the direction of the Medical Department and overseeing day-to-day activities, along with Ambulatory Services Director Corinna Nyquist, Dan also practices at the Rincon clinic in Santa Ysabel. He heads the Journey of the Heart team and is involved with CA-NARCH and other IHC-related programs. Dr. Calac is a 1999 graduate of Harvard Medical School and has received numerous awards, including the 1998 Arthur Ashe Program Fellowship in AIDS Care sponsored by the National Medial Fellowships Inc., and a Massachusetts medical society fellowship for his academic achievement and commitment to public service. A member of the Luiseno Band of Mission Indians, he was active in the Four Directions Sumer Program, a student-run project that brings Native American undergraduates to Harvard for eight weeks to perform research, shadow physicians, and meet Native American medical students.
