Traveling Tukwut

Hello Partners in International Education,

It is hard to believe that summer is coming to a close and we will very soon have the fall upon us. I would once again like to extend a warm welcome to campus and this year's Traveling Tukwut Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday, October 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Kellogg Library Plaza.

Our beautiful university is growing with over 10,000 students in a wide variety of undergraduate majors.  The most popular fields continue to be Business, Communication, Kinesiology, Nursing, and Psychology, though we are seeing quite a diversity of majors in our study abroad participants.  This past academic year our recruitment numbers were pretty steady, however with the additional of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) to our offerings, we expect interest to grow.  We are looking forward to our partners and friends helping us expand our outreach in international education!

This year's fair registration is $90, plus $15 for each additional representative (including lunch), made payable by check or money order to California State University San Marcos by October 1, 2013.

Remit payments with indemnification forms and proof of liability insurance to:

        CSUSM--Office of Global Education

333 S. Twin Oaks Valley Rd.

        San Marcos, CA  92096-0001

Registration costs include advertising, a tented table, chair, one box lunch, and parking. Registrations received after the October 1st deadline are deemed late and subject to a $15 late fee.  No registrations will be accepted after October 18.  Space is limited and first come, first served.

One can never tell what the weather will be in October in North San Diego, but typically we have absolutely gorgeous temperatures in the 70s with lots of sun.  As a reminder, our campus sits  perched on a hill overlooking the city, so we are frequently subject to wind gusts.  All that is to say, wear sunblock, layered clothing, and bring LOTS of paper weights for your materials!

Be sure to unload your materials in Craven's Flag Circle directly in front of Library Plaza to use the Starbucks elevator to move to the main event level (3rd floor).  If you do not unload here, there are several flights of stairs to cross to reach the main event from Parking Lot F.  You will find a student volunteer or myself at the foot of the stairs at Flag Circle to direct you.

As a reminder, our office can only accommodate a small number of materials (6-10 copies of viewbooks).  Please make plans to take excess materials with you from the fair.  You may ship items beginning two weeks prior to the fair in clearly marked boxes labeled HOLD FOR STUDY ABROAD FAIR/Name of Provider to the following address:

441 La Moree Road
San Marcos, CA 92078

DO NOT send the articles to my campus address directly or I will have to move each of your boxes myself as in years past.

I look forward to this event every year and to seeing dear colleagues like yourselves with similar hearts for students and international education!  Please let me know if I can offer any additional assistance.  I hope to see you this fall!

Warm Regards,

Tiffany Gabbard, Study Abroad Coordinator
