Graduate Studies
International Students
All applicants
who wish to enter the United States on a student
visa or who are in the U.S. on a nonimmigrant,
student visa must file a completed
"International Student Application" accompanied
by a financial affidavit with the Office of
Admissions. International admission information
and the International Student Application is
available on the Global Affairs Web site at
http://www.csusm.edu/UGA/admissions/.
In addition, a department application form must
be submitted directly to the graduate program.
Official transcripts (with certified English
translations) must be submitted both to the
department and the Office of Admissions. For
more detailed information on international
admissions, see the
Global Affairs
web site.
TOEFL Graduate
and Postbaccalaureate Requirement
All graduate and
postbaccalaureate applicants, regardless of
citizenship, whose preparatory education was
principally in a language other than English,
must demonstrate competence in English. Those
who do not possess a bachelor's degree from a
post-secondary institution where English is the
principal language of instruction must have a
score of 80 iBT or above on the TOEFL (213 on
the computer-based examination, 550
paper-based), unless they possess a bachelors
degree from a post-secondary institution where
English was the principal language of
instruction. Conditional admission is available
to students who do not meet this requirement.
Prospective international students are
encouraged to learn more about graduate
education at Cal State San Marcos. Information
for international graduate students can be found
on the
University Global Affairs website. |
