Summer 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule
Executive Council has approved the voluntary implementation of a 9/80 work schedule for CSUSM employees. Managers may offer this alternate work schedule to their staff as long as it meets the following guideline:
- Will be transparent to all internal and external customers of the University by not disrupting normal business operations or service to our customers.
9/80 Summer Work Schedules:
Option 1 - May 28, 2012 through August 3, 2012
Option 2 - June 4, 2012 through August 10, 2012
Requesting a 9/80 Summer Work Schedule
Employees who would like to participate in the 9/80 work schedule must complete the attached “9/80 Work Schedule Request Form” and forward to their appropriate administrator for consideration and approval/denial. The appropriate administrator should forward the completed form to HREO prior to May 11, 2012.
9/80 Summer Work Request Forms:
Excess/Minus Hours
Full-time non-exempt employees who participate in the 9/80 work schedule must complete the 9/80 Work Schedule Request Form in lieu of an alternate work schedule calendar. Worksheets with the 9/80 schedules are available below:
Summer 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule Worksheet - Option 1
Summer 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule Worksheet – Option 2
The hours on the worksheet are automatically calculated. If the calculator indicates excess hours, those hours will be paid to the employee (from department budget funds) at the regular pay rate. Excess hours are paid on the 15th of the month following the month the excess hours were worked. If the calculator indicates deficit hours, the hours are carried forward to the next month. Deficit hour balances are reconciled and cleared at the end of the alternate work schedule period using the employee’s pre-determined leave credits.
Excess Hours – Additional hours an employee works that exceed the standard 168 or 176 hours in a pay period.
Negative or Deficit Hours – Hours not worked - when an employee works less than the standard 168 or 176 hours in a pay period.
If you have any questions regarding the 9/80 work schedule or other alternate work schedules, please contact a Human Resources Manager at ext 4416.
