Frequently Asked Question (FAQ's)

Where should I save personal documents?

All personal documents should be saved to your "H drive". In the case of a hard drive crash or system corruption, your documents remain safe on "CSUSMNT" (H drive).

What is the "H drive"?

The "H drive" is your personal document storage location on campus. It contains important information like your My Documents, Internet Explorer Favorites, Netscape Bookmarks, Outlook Personal Folder, and Citrix settings. You will have access to your "H drive" when you login with your username and password to any computer on the CSUSM network. The "H drive" also has the benefit of nightly automatic backups. In the case of a hard drive crash or system corruption, your documents remain safe on your "H drive".

Where should I save departmental documents?

When your CSUSM account was created you were given access to your department’s folder. Please contact the Faculty and Staff Help Desk to request a “Mapped Drive” to your department’s folder. Documents that need to be accessed by more than one person in your department should be placed here. Unique permissions can be assigned to folders inside the departmental folder depending on what kind of access you want to give to whom. If you don’t have access or need to change permissions to that folder, please contact the Exchange Administrator.
