Student Telephone Services Terms & Conditions
Authorization Codes
You will receive an authorization code to place calls. Your authorization code gives you the freedom to place calls and receive an individualized bill. Use of an authorization code implies that you agree to pay for all calls placed with your code. Do not share your authorization code with anyone. Instead, treat it as you would a credit card or social security number. Any unpaid balance may result in holds on your grades and ability to register for classes.
If you lose or suspect that your authorization code may have been stolen, please call Telephone Services at 6500. We will disable your existing authorization code and assign you a replacement. The first auth code replacement is free. Additional requests to replace an auth code will be billed a $2.50 service charge for each change.
If you have forgotten your authorization code, be prepared to show a picture ID at Telephone Services and we will reissue your code.
Fraud
All attempted or completed unauthorized or fraudulent calls will be reported to Public Safety, and prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. Telephone Services will use all available resources to assist in the fraud investigation.
Collect Calls
Do not accept collect calls. If collect calls are accepted there will be a $10 service charge attached to each call. Telephone Services will attempt to identify the party who accepted the charges and apply all charges to their account. In the event that Telephone Services can not determine who accepted the call, the charges will be applied evenly to all accounts in the room.
Data Calls
We will be restricting local calls to internet providers such as AOL and Earthlink. Internet service is provided in each room. Please seek assistance in configuring your computer to use the local network rather than dial-up service. This will help keep the lines available for voice calls and will assist in providing the best service possible for the lowest cost. If we become aware of data calls, we will bill for the usage.
Long Distance Providers
The University has procured great rates with its chosen long distance provider. However, you do have the right to use a provider of your choice. If you chose to use a different provider, we will provide instructions to reach that provider. Please be aware that the rates you will be billed, will be at the DDD (Direct Distance Dialing) rates. These rates can be $.25 per minute or more. We are not able to provide any special promotions from the carrier of your choice.
Right to use our Services
The Telephone Service provided by CSUSM belongs to CSUSM. You do not have the authorization to discuss or make changes to the services with any telephone vendors other than CSUSM Telephone Services. If you are contacted by any telephone vendors/solicitors, please let them know you are not authorized to make any changes to these lines and refer them to Telephone Services at x6500.
Billing
A list of calls can be accessed on-line through Student Telephone Services. You will be able to view several months of calls. No bill will be mailed. Please report any possible fraud to Telephone Services immediately.
If you have any questions or concerns about the charges on your account, please contact Telephone Services at 760-750-6500.
Balances remaining at the end of your residency in University Village will not be returned.
Voice Mail
One voicemail box is provided per line. Your extension and box number will be provided to you. We encourage you to work together with your roommates to create a shared passcode and greeting. Telephone Services will not be able to reset the passcode without contacting all residents of your apartment
Voicemail instructions will be provided.
