A Comparison of CSU and Cal State San Marcos Performance on
Selected Accountability Indicators

All CSU campuses, including ours, submit biennial Accountability Reports to the Chancellor's Office.  These campus-specific reports cover a five-year period and focus on nine performance indicators.  In providing campuses with the data underlying the biennial reports, the Chancellor’s Office also forwards systemwide data for the quantitative indicators.  This report uses the relevant systemwide figures as a comparative context within which to assess the performance of Cal State San Marcos on six indicators.

2004 Report

The data presented indicate that the percentage of first time freshmen returning one year after entry or likely to graduate lag the comparable figures for the system as a whole and are well below those for our transfer students.  Additional data suggest that an increase in the number of freshmen who are fully remediated one year after entry might well have a beneficial effect on the one-year continuation rate of these students.
