What Students are Saying About Their CSUSM Experience: 2008 NSSE Pocket Guide

Retention at Cal State San Marcos

A university’s success in educating its undergraduate students is generally understood to revolve around “retention,” a multi-faceted concept encompassing at least three distinct elements: one-year continuation rates, graduation rates, and time-to-degree.

The CSUSM record in all three of these elements of student success and retention are briefly summarized in these reports. Figures are presented for all undergraduates entering as transfer students or first time freshmen; where available, comparative data for the CSU as a whole are also shown.
