Student Summer Camp
The iQUEST Student Summer Camp provides middle school students from partner schools the opportunity to participate in activities that promote interest, engagement and knowledge in topics related to STEM, specifically targeting Science and Technology. Summer camp teachers include high school and middle school science teachers representing various areas of science. Cal State San Marcos students from the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems act as role models and provide support for students and teachers during the summer camp. During the summer of 2009, 24 incoming 8th grade students attended the summer camp and were involved in activities such as: videoconferencing with science experts from Rochester Institute of Technology and a university in Kansas, a geocaching activity involving GPS devices, experiments using Pasco SPARK probes, computer simulations, journaling in Moodle online environment, shore crab observation activity and sheep eye dissections.
