Collaborative Lesson Study

The project provides participating teachers with two Collaborative Lesson Study (CLS) experiences every school year. Teachers work in teams on a Saturday to develop lesson plans and design roles each team member is to take during the actual delivery of the lesson where teachers team teach the lesson as well as observe the interaction in classroom. Teachers then meet and reflect upon how students respond and understand content.

The schedule for lesson studies is listen in the Upcoming Events Section.

IQUEST teachers met for an all day Lesson Study Workshop in October 2009 where they worked in collaborative groups to design a lesson focusing on what students would do to learn about a concept in science through the use of technology. The lessons were team taught the following week in a project classroom. After teaching the lesson, the team members met to debrief and discuss the outcomes of the lesson with the help of a facilitator. They refined the lesson based on their observations and notes and re-taught it during the same day with a different group of students. The refined lessons will be made available to other teams during the Lesson Study Debrief Day scheduled later the same week.
