SPANISH 201: STUDY
GUIDE FOR EXAM III: Chapters 13 & 14
Use the following guide to study for the exam. If you can do
each of the things mentioned here, without having to check look up words,
phrases and forms in your text, you can consider yourself well prepared to take
the exam!
Chapter 13
Vocabulary You will need to be able to:
- discuss and describe in your own words different types of television programs and movies.
- discuss and describe different types of art.
- be able to describe what different types of artists do (i.e. ¿Qué hace
una cantante?; ¿Qué hace el escultor?).
Grammar You will need to be able to:
- know which adverbial phrases require the use of the subjunctive all the
time.
- know which adverbial phrases require the subjunctive only some of the
time.
- talk about conditions under which events will, won´t, or normally do or
don´t occur (i.e., Mi novio sólo me invita al cine con tal de que veamos
una pelicula de acción).
- talk about time conditions on events (Vamos a ver la nueva película de
Almodóvar tan pronto como salga en el cine.).
- use no-fault SE to describe unplanned or accidental events.
Culture You will need to be able to:
know where Perú and Ecuador are located and what their
neighboring countries are.
know the name of a Latin American author won the Nobel
Prize in literature.
Chapter 14
Vocabulary You will need to be able to:
- discuss and describe in your own words certain
aspects of politics, politicians, and elections.
- discuss, define, and describe in your own words
societal concerns.
Grammar You will need to be able to:
- form the future tense, including irregular forms.
- talk about what the future will be like for you,
your friends, family, and our society.
- speculate about actions and people with the future
tense (i.e. ¿Será él el presidente de Chile?)
- form the conditional, including irregular forms.
- talk about how things would be for you and others in
hypothetical situations.
Culture You will need to be able to:
know where Chile is located and what its neighboring
countries are.
know something about the past leaders of Chile.
know about the desaparecidos.
What should I do to study?
- Don´t wait until the last minute to study!
- Make sure you can do all of the above.
- Do the workbook and lab manual with your textbook
closed. Check your answers for errors and try to figure out why you made the
errors.
- Do the textbook activities, review your homework and
class work.

HERE Select the appropriate chapter from the menu and select AUTO
PRUEBA and/or ONLINE QUIZZES. Send the quizzes to yourself to see your
corrected quizzes.
- DO THE VIDEO VIEWING ACTIVITY ON THE WEB PAGE.
Select the appropriate chapters (13 &14) and watch the video and try to
answer the questions.
