The Liberal Studies curriculum covers the seven subjects taught in elementary schools. The California Standards for K-8 teacher preparation mandate that future teachers acquire in-depth knowledge in one of the seven subject areas. You will meet this requirement via a Depth of Study.

• Declaring Depth of Study- Catalog 2004 - Current
• Special Field - If your have a catalog prior to 1998 - Spring 2002, please meet with your Liberal Studies advisor to declare.

For the ESM: Steps To Declare Your Option and Depth of Study

Step 1: Print and complete the Declaration of Liberal Studies Major form.

Step 2: Select your Depth of Study and complete the worksheet.

Step 3: Bring both completed forms to the Liberal Studies Advisor in Undergraduate Advising in Craven Hall 1300 .

Step 4: The Liberal Studies Advisor will sign the forms and forward the declaration to Registration & Records.

For the ICP (Integrated Credential Program): Steps To Declare Your Depth of Study

Step 1: Declaration of Liberal Studies Major form will be completed and collected in the ICP orientation during the pre-requisite semester.

Step 2: Select your Depth of Studyand complete the worksheet.

Step 3: Turn in the Depth of Study Worksheet to ICP office.

Step 4: The ICP Advisor will sign and forward the declaration to Registration & Records.
