How Tutoring Works

  • Free!
  • Spanish, French, German, Japanese & Arabic
  • For all CSUSM students (even if you are not taking a class)
  • Walk-ins accepted IF tutors free
  • Make 1 or 2 30-MIN appointments per day (UP TO 1 HOUR/DAY)
  • Make up to 5 appointments per week, up to 2 weeks in advance
  • Cancel appointments online or via phone 760-750-8058
  • If more than 5 minutes late, appointment cancelled
  • If no-show for 2 appointments, will be blocked until talk to LLC

How to Prepare

  • Try to do as much on your own as you can
  • Come with SPECIFIC questions about homework, tests, papers....
  • If bring a paper, we will go over 1-3 specific topics: one verb tense, one grammar point, your thesis statement, a rocky paragraph, etc.
  • Proofreading and Editing are NOT LLC services
  • What CSUSM considers academic dishonesty.

What Tutors Can't Do

  • Tutors CANNOT teach you something you have not yet studied on your own.
  • Tutors CANNOT proofread papers looking for mistakes.
  • Tutors CANNOT do your homework for you.
  • Tutors CANNOT translate papers from English or look at work that has been written or translated by others or by a computer program. (Such work would be considered plagiarism if handed in to the instructor. If you are confused, tutors can explain this complex issue in a private and supportive manner.)
