Local Coursework Meeting the LOTER
Read These Important Notes Before Scrolling!
~Listed below are common area schools students take a language class to meet LOTER. They are listed by school. To search for a language at multiple schools, use your browser's "Find" feature. (For Filipino, search "Tagalog". For Persian, search both "Persian" and "Farsi".)
~As of Fall 2010, online courses meet the LOTER. Prior to Fall 2010, the only accepted online class was Spanish 201 at CSUSM Extended Learning.
~The list below shows third and fourth semester/quarter classes that meet LOTER. How you place into that class is up to you and each school.
~Any first or second semester class can be taken at any of the below as preparation for a third semester class.
~Courses that list a class on this page as a prerequisite also meet LOTER.
~Courses that do NOT meet LOTER: 1) listed below as not meeting it; 2) online before Fall 2010 (except for CSUSM Extended Learning Spanish 201); 2) name includes "conversation" or "listening" or "writing" or "reading"; 3) ASL course name includes "fingerspelling" or "deaf culture"; 4) 1 or 2 units
~If you took a course not listed below, please contact your advisor to help you determine if that cleared LOTER. If requirement has not been marked as "met", you should contact the LOTER Advisor to see if it might.
